King's College Hospital

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an acute care medical facility located on Denmark Hill in the south London borough of Southwark. Often called King's or KCH, it is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Great Britain, providing more than 700,000 patient contacts annually. In conjunction with its academic partner, King's College, the hospital trust provides training and education of medical, nursing and dental students who do their clinical rotations at the facility. King's has a unique profile of medical services and focused specialties and has an international reputation in a number of areas. The hospital's Liver Unit provides the most comprehensive liver care in the world, focusing on pediatric liver cancers and operating Europe's largest liver transplant programme. The Department of Neurology and Neurosciences also provides high-level services that include a multidisciplinary approach to managing Parkinson's disease, dystonia, progressive supranuclear palsy and related diseases. It is one of only five "Centres of Excellence" designated by the National Parkinson Foundation. The U.K.'s first Motor Neruone Disease Care and Research Centre is located here, emphasizing rapid diagnosis and a strong focus on research and clinical trials. King's also houses the country's only dedicated diverticular disease clinic. Other notable specialties include hemo-oncology and fetal medicine.
