Intrauterine insemination (IUI), also known as artificial insemination or
assisted conception, is the most common form of infertility treatment. It
increases a couple’s chance of becoming pregnant if either of them have
reproductive organ abnormalities, if the woman has endometriosis or if the man
has low sperm motility or a low sperm count. At Junomedical we partner with
the most experienced surgeons around the world. These specialists perform IUI
for up to 80% less than the average cost in the UK, US and Australia. After
examining your medical history the specialist will provide you with a
treatment plan and price quote. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of
specialists, many of whom attained their medical qualifications from UK and US
medical schools, have won awards, and are members of prestigious associations.
How Does Intrauterine Insemination Work?
Before performing IUI, the specialist will conduct several tests in order to assess the health of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and womb via ultrasound, X-ray or laparoscopy. The procedure will be performed one to two days following ovulation, the timing of which the physicians will also determine during the tests. During an IUI procedure processed and concentrated motile sperm are inserted directly into a woman’s uterus using a catheter. The chances of an egg being fertilized are increased due to the fact that a high concentration of high-quality sperm will be inserted near the fallopian tube through which a newly released egg will be travelling. The success of the procedure depends on the age of the woman, the quality of the sperm and egg and whether or not there is severe fallopian tube damage. Many patients choose to undergo insemination in conjunction with hormone injections in order to improve their chances of becoming pregnant.
