Question:

What is tarsal tunnel syndrome?

Answer:

The tarsal tunnel is actually the canal that is formed between a part of the ankle bone and the band of ligaments that moves across the foot. There are number of nerves, arteries and tendons all the way through this tunnel. When they become aggravated, particularly the tibial nerve, a certain sensation can occur all along the bottom of the foot. The syndrome results when the nerve is compressed.
