The World Health Organization estimates that 16.7 million people die of heart disease around the world each year and cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Europe. The cost of heart surgery depends on the type of surgery being performed, the complexity of the procedure, the expertise of the surgeon, the general health of the patient, and the country in which the surgery is performed. At Junomedical we partner with the most experienced surgeons around the world. These internationally-accredited specialists perform a variety of cardiovascular procedures for up to 80% less than the average cost in the UK, US and Australia. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of skilled surgeons, many of whom attained their medical qualifications from UK and US medical schools, have won awards, and are members of prestigious associations.

What Are the Most Common Cardiovascular Procedures?

Although cardiovascular disease can refer to various problems with your heart or blood vessels, it is typically used to describe a buildup of fatty plaques in your arteries which can inhibit the blood flow. When the arteries throughout the body slowly narrow and harden this is called atherosclerosis, and when this affects the arteries of the heart it’s called coronary artery disease. Heart disease can be caused by an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight and smoking. Cardiovascular disease as well as other conditions which predispose you to the disease such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes or being overweight can also be hereditary. These conditions can, however, be managed in order to prevent heart disease. There are several ways to prevent or significantly lower your risk of heart disease. These include maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, eating lots of fruit and vegetables, not smoking, and finding out your blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels and keeping them under control. You can also get tested for diabetes and learn how to manage it if you have the disease. The most common types of cardiac surgery that medical tourists travel abroad for are coronary artery bypass grafting, coronary angioplasty, and the implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
